African Management Development Institutes Network invites public sector leaders to key conference in Namibia
The African Management Development Institutes Network (AMDIN) invites public administration and public management professionals, scholars, and academics on the African continent to its 2nd Annual Conference, due to take place in Windhoek, Namibia, on 18-20 May 2026.
The conference will be hosted by the Namibia Institute for Public Management (NIPAM) under the theme “Transformative Public Service Leadership for Sustainable Development and Inclusive Growth in Africa.”
AMDIN is the continent’s premier professional training association committed to enhancing public sector capacity and to promote collaboration, shared resources, and knowledge exchange among African public sector management development and training institutions.
The membership of AMDIN comprises Management Development Institutions (MDIs), including government-established training entities such as school of Government, university-based Schools and Institutes of Administration, public policy and administration research centres, and regional training organisations. The constitution also provides for associate membership by invitation of the General Assembly. Key continental bodies such as the African Union Commission (AUC) specifically the Specialised Technical Committee number eight (8) and the African Association for Public Administration and Management (AAPAM) are strategic partners reinforcing its strategic influence.
To advance its mission, AMDIN launched an annual conference in 2025, as a flagship platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and capacity-building among public-sector training and development institutions. The conference promotes cross-country partnerships, thought leadership on governance issues specific to Africa, and institutional effectiveness through technical exchanges and workshops. It also enhances AMDIN’s visibility, advocates increased investment in public sector development, and sustains the network’s relevance.
The inaugural conference was held in May 2025 in Accra, Ghana, where it was resolved that the second edition will be hosted by the National Institute for Public Administration and Management (NIPAM) in Windhoek, Namibia, in 2026. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Namibia, HE Dr Tjitunga Elijah Ngurate is scheduled to officially open the conference on 18 May 2026. He will be supported by the AMDIN President, Mr Tombola Muke, the Director-General of the School of Administration (ENA) in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
“This conference aims to provide a strategic platform for reflection, knowledge sharing, and dialogue on building a professional, innovative, ethical, and citizen-centered public service capable of driving Africa’s transformation. We invite public sector professionals, scholars and academics to join us in their numbers so that we can share ideas and take the mission of building a better African public service forward,” said AMDIN Secretary General and South African National School of Government Acting Principal, Ms Phindile Mkwanazi.
